A major perk of going to a big school like the U of M: Freebies! A few months ago, I got an email from Northrop (the U’s main performance stage) asking to fill out a survey for a chance to win tickets to a show. I am not one to pass down these opportunities (even though I hardly ever win!) So you can imagine my complete surprise when I was emailed a few weeks later saying I won tickets to see Vance Joy on tour when he came to Minneapolis!
I haven’t talked much about my musical tastes on this blog yet, but Vance Joy is one of my current favorite artists. (He has a very unique style and it’s refreshing!) In fact, my friend and I were planning on going to the concert anyways!
Even in the midst of my super busy/stressful week, I couldn’t give up an opportunity to go and see him perform live. Let me just say that it was beyond worth it! His voice is as angelic in person as it sounds on recording and his opening acts were entertaining as well.
Plus, it was great to go with my friend whom I hadn’t seen in a month!
In college it is important to remember to do one thing: TREAT YOUR SELF. School is hard work but it is experiences like this that remind me that life moves on and everything will be alright!

Worry less and smile more.
